Traffic Division

The Traffic Division is responsible for any construction and traffic issues that may arise from any planned or emergency construction or road closures that occur within the Borough of Lodi. The Traffic Division also oversees all Lodi Crossing Guards, their training, and School Posts they are assigned to. They also oversee and maintain handicap signs and applications and placement. The responsibilities of investigating any serious or fatal car accident falls under this division. Members of this division also train and maintain the records for all officers within the department for radar, Lidar (laser radar), and work zone safety.

The division is equipped with two Ford Taurus police vehicles and a Chevy Tahoe Police Vehicle, along with emergency operations trailers that carry barricades, safety equipment and signs for any road emergency that may occur. The division maintains all vehicles within the department fleet.

Officers also attend monthly traffic safety meetings within Bergen County and the State of New Jersey, and bring back safety information that is then implemented in our town to increase the safety for our residents, pedestrians, and vehicles traveling through town. Division officers also utilize traffic alert sign boards that are placed throughout town to alert drivers of construction or road hazards, and areas of town that have had speeding complaints. These sign boards alert drivers to monitor their speed and slow down.

If a resident has an issue with parking or speeding vehicles, they can call the traffic division at 973-473-7600 and enter “9” at the voice prompt. If the complaint needs an immediate response, call the police and speak to a dispatcher who will take your complaint and assign an officer to respond to the area to investigate, or call 911 for an emergency.
